Why I Want to Be Your 8th Grade Student Council Rep

A reflection on leadership, school spirit, and the importance of representing student voices.

Being at Qatar Academy Doha has honestly taught me a lot about what it means to be part of a community. Over the years, I’ve been involved in all kinds of things with the school — MUN conferences, math and science competitions, school performances, and even campaigns like the IB Festival of Hope and Street Child United initiative.

Each one of those experiences helped me grow, but also showed me how much I enjoy being a part of these amazing opportunities.

My Student Council Journey

When I was Student Council President in Grade 5, I realized how much I liked representing people and helping bring ideas to life.

I have been in Student Council starting from when I was in first grade, but then COVID hit and we were doing online learning. Starting in Grade 5, I joined Student Council again, and then I joined again in 6th grade.

In 7th grade, however, I decided to focus on extracurricular activities and building more of my skills, so I was not a part of Student Council that year.

“But now I’m back — not only because I want to help make the school a better place, but because I really missed being a part of Student Council.”

Looking Ahead

If I get the chance to represent our grade this year, I want to help make our year memorable, fun, and meaningful.

I want students to feel heard, included, and excited about being part of our school community.

Final Message

Leadership is about responsibility, teamwork, and creating positive change. I hope to bring energy, dedication, and creativity to Student Council this year.
